That depends on the type of business.

Would you care to expand on that?


For example, in Arizona I ran a computer consulting business. No
business license was required. I checked and the only license I had
was a tax license for any work I did requiring parts. Ergo, some
businesses are licensed, some are not. I would assume that
occupations like hairdressers, food service, etc.. would be.

You've named some businesses that currently require licenses and one
that doesn't where you live at the moment.

I was asking if you should need permission from The State, not if you
currently do.

That is the purpose of licensing and zoning laws. As Scout has been
pointing out, if you don't like the rules, don't play the game. ;)
