Either make it legal to carry it in schools or do not

Not allowing weapons in schools doesn't actually do anything
to
keep
them out, but merely guarantees that anyone choosing to
bring
one
in
to
do harm will encounter no resistance.

Which is an obviously one-sided argument. Guns are not
permitted
in
federal
buildings or courts, they seem to do just fine.

They also all have armed security and in DC the capitol police.

Wow. Really? Imagine that. And, of course, we couldn't have
armed security and police in schools.

You don't have that in all schools but I have yet to see a
federal building that didn't....particularly like the Supreme
Court which,
IIRC,
was the example you used. ;)

At one time, and within both of our lifetimes, federal buildings
did not
have armed security. I walked into the Federal Court in Manhattan
without
passing through a metal detector and without seeing/running into
an armed
guard. It was 40 years ago, I admit.

Which was simply what I stated, make them the same
as federal buildings and courts.

As long as they can afford to do it....no problem. Of course in
the Minnesota shooting the bad guy simply walked past the guard
killing
him
on the way in.

There is really nothing you can do if people pay no attention. Of
course, this
is not exactly a stunning argument for having guns in schools,
since having
one did the guy no good.

True, but the point is that teachers or administrators who already
have CCW being able to carry in the school simply provides another
option. Will it work 100% of the time.....no, but nothing ever
does. Hell, the bad guy could have his gun jam on him. Hasn't
happened yet but you nev
er
know. ;)

That's true, but a different conversation. This one was about
storing them in the car. I still think it is a dumb idea.

OK

Either figure out a safe way
to let them
carry in the schools, or ban them entirely from school grounds.

They currently are. How is that working for you? The assistant
principle at Pearl had to go to his car which was parked off school
grounds to get his gun because of that ban.

A "ban" is effective only if implemented. If someone is getting into
the
schools with guns, they aren't banned, merely illegal. You have to
make
it impossible to enter a school with a gun.

Which as history proves is all but impossible to impliment. Given all the
places that guns show up where they are supposedly banned.
