Another person posted that Outback in Tennesee has posted their restaurants "No Guns". I check with Corporate,and here's the response I got;

Dear Mr. Yanik;
Thank you for your recent email concerning the newly passed gun law in the State of Tennessee. While we respect the right of all citizens to bear arms, it is our decision to not allow people to do so in our restaurants. This is a corporate decision. We are not disrespectful of the rights of gun owners, we merely want all of our guests to feel welcomed and safe, and

He is either an idiot or a liar. Recall Luby's - shit like that happens once in a tutti-frutti moon, but it DOES happen. Outback Corporate obviously is not terribly concerned with gun owners feeling secure and welcome. Outback are hypocrites and liars.

frankly see no need for guns to be brought into restaurants.

And therefore make that decision for everyone.

I wonder how they will enforce this policy. Metal detectors at the door? Armed security with wands? Short of those types of measure, there will be no reasonable way for them to determine whether any given patron is carrying a gun, short of the patron openly doing so. And this announcement tells any potential postal employee that the pickens will be juicy there, which should make anyone with a nominally functioning brain feel less safe.

The douche who shot up Luby's knew that nobody was likely to have a gun with which to put an end to his spree. It gave him effective carte-blanche to do as he pleased and at his leisure, which was exactly what he did, reloading 3 to 4 times, as I recall.

Well, I never go to Outback, so they will not lose anything by me, but they may stand to lose by others. Many people will cease to give them business due to this... or at least I hope that will be the case.
