Violent crime in UK "shockingly" higher

From the page: "Shocking statistics released last night show a 14 per
cent increase in murder and manslaughter in England and Wales between
1998 and 2007."

This article blames it on the Labour Party. But isn't that about the
time the UK started banning firearms? This shows that, at the very
least, gun controls do not reduce violent crimes.

The story continues: "There was also a 28 per cent increase in deaths
from bladed weapons. Those killed by shootings increased by the same
figure. Most shockingly, there was a 57 per cent increase in deaths
caused by punching and kicking."

When there are stringent gun controls that disarm the law-abiding and
prevent effective self-defense, criminals no longer need firearms.
Simple force and numbers are enough to overpower most victims. This is
why gun control proponents like to point to "gun crime," rather than
OVERALL violent crime when judging the effectiveness of gun control.
You know -- the truth, part of the truth, nothing but part of the
truth....
