Wrong again, Billy. The NRA has ZERO votes. It's gun owners that have

True, the mighty NRA is it's members; voting shooters and gun
owners.

But the liberals couldn't portray it as the quintensenttial boogyman
with that image, so they give the NRA a life of it's own.

There's another thing about the money that NRA raises. Politicians are used
to getting donations from things like The Dairymen's Association or The
Steel Manufacturing Institute or Ford or Archer Daniels Midland - they also
know this money comes from organized pressure groups that can be broadly
appeased for more donations later.

But NRA money is different: this money *doesn't* come from groups, but from
everyday citizens - from both parties - people that own guns, vote, and send
a check for $20 or $30 once in a while to NRA. It's just that NRA has so
much money, so much money - and all of it comes from the retired guy next
door, your accountant, the mechanic that fixes your car, you; not one dime
from some corporate or political group that can be bought with a vote or
two; no, this money comes from people who are interested in every vote you
make and even worse, they never forget how you voted and they in turn will
cast their vote against you if you make even one small compromise of what
they see as a basic civil right

That's why NRA is more feared by politicians than any other group they have
to deal with: NRA represents *voters*, not some industry group looking for a
tax break.
