# # # If gun shows are such a "gaping hole", then why do the
government's # own
# # # statisitics indicate that gun shows are NOT used by prohibited
persons # to
# # # acquire guns?
# #
# #
# # Because the system is not set up to spot some prohibited persons,
like # the
# # VT shooter.
#
# Oh, hogwash.
#
# Prohibited people get arrested and their guns are traced all the
time. #
# How many of those guns in the possession of prohibited people who
have # been arrested got traced back to gun shows?
#
# Well, Grima Wormtongue?
You've ascended to personal insults. We must be having fun now.
Ascended. Not a typo.
It's time for you to enlighten me. I'm always open to new ideas. Let's
break the next part of the discussion into three separate ideas.
Please keep your responses equally separate.
1) My understanding (which I admit may be lacking at the moment) is
that the VT shooter was not "known" to the system that could've
stopped him. So, please tell me how a system can stop someone it
doesn't know about.
2) In some places (and I say "some" in case someone points out an
exception), you have to show ID to buy alcohol. That's true here
(Rochester NY). If I buy beer at the supermarket, I have to show ID.
Do you think I should ***NOT*** have to show ID to buy the same beer
at a convenience store?
3) Guns can be bought at a gun shop or a gun show. Shop or show.
How is the show different from the shop in any way that matters?
More memorabilia and more swords than most gun shops.
