Would letting anyone carry a gun solve that problem? No; all a criminal
would have to do is come from behind with a gun pointed at you, and shoot
you if you even look like you are reaching for a gun.
Letting every law abiding citizen be armed would, at least in terms of society.
If every time a criminal tried to commit armed robbery there was a 10% chance that they would be terminated with extremem prejudice by someone witnessing the crime, there would be a sharp decline in the incidence of armed robbery.
Here's something
that will undoubtedly increase if everyone had a gun: passion crimes, like
a wife shooting an unfaithful husband.
Unlikely. In such cases, there are already multiple means available to accomplish the same end. Poison, blunt instruments, knives.... just wait till they are asleep.
and just so we are all on the same page, criminals do not care about
gun control laws. The police are not going to save your life when
someone holds you at gun point.
Like I said, will having everyone walk around armed with a deadly weapon
solve that problem?
Yes. The criminals don't fear the police, but they are terrified by the thought of potential victims being armed.
The police will try to arrest them, the armed victim will fill them full of holes.
