Pointing a gun with an empty chamber at someone with a presumably
loaded firearm is also not a smart thing to do. Merrel is also very
lucky.

It is possible that the incident did not happen exactly as reported.
Perhaps Merrell racked the slide as he drew the gun. At any rate,
he did a great job, and I'm not going to second guess him.
Not having a round up the stack of a carry gun, is a way to get
yourself killed fast.
If you don't feel comfortable carrying a round in the barrel,, you
should not be carrying,,,, PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with no safety, I do use a holster that encloses the trigger. Makes
you wonder about those reported situations in Utah, where the gun is
supposed to be two mechanical actions away from firing.
a guy named Dave Bugg on alt.home.repair swears by carrying his Beretta
92F
empty-chamber,and racks the slide when drawing it.
There's been a lot of posts about it the last couple of days.
What's this about Utah requiring a gun be two mechanical actions before
firing??? got a link to the law on that?
shed some light. But, googling the subject, it looks like the two action
requirement is for non-CCW holders (CFP in Utah), and applies to open carry.
