That is not entirely correct. The US supplied a CRITICAL component of the
British victory.....gasoline! The RAF fought the Battle of Britain with
American-provided av-gas that was of higher quality than the Brits were
used
to.....it boosted the performance of the Merlin, particularly in the
Hurricane's that did the bulk of the "heavy-lifting"....even though the
Spit
got the headlines!

That's typical of those who "study" history now. They pay more
attention to the movies than to the history books, particularly those
that cover such dry subjects as logistics.
Don't forget the American supplied variable pitch props which made British
fighters perform.
