So what about rechambering the K31 to .308? Is it commonly
done, maybe sporterized K31s rechambered & ready to go?
I like the SKS too but worry about a good supply of ammo.
Say what you want about commie rifles but the SKS is probably the most
fun plinker in the world! Ton of cool-looking accessories and upgrades
available cheap. Next to no recoil. Nice accuracy. Plus has the
advantage of being below the radar among Weasel's pals. Just get the
large fixed magazine and forget the removable mag adapters that work
for crap anyway and all those laws passed to "get" the "nasty and
fearsome" "weapon of choice for criminals" the "AK-47" don't apply.
And ammo could be a problem when Weasel's pals stopped all the massive
imports of guns and stuff. OF course that time it was REPUB leftists
doing the banning.
My view is that for some "real" shooting you'd want a "real" rifle.
Something in .308, I presume. I'd suggest the H&K 91/G3. Small and
light (for what it is). Totally reliable. Weird but light recoil. And
a world standard. Most other stuff is either heavy as hell or beats
the crap out of you like an M14. Just one minor downside: Price! But
hey, this is AMERICA Expensive guns are a way of life! OK, just one
other downside: Puts a huge dent in the side of all brass unless you
put a special bumper on it.
