yes, sure....the M16 is so bad, the USA is the only
superpower left in the world cuz of it...and the gun wins
the military 1000 yd. matches

methinks it's time someone got a reality check

Indeed
When are you getting one ?
The US did NOT become a superpower on the M16
In actual fact, it became so on the M1 Garand, if
you're going to make
that kind of nonsense claim
As to winning 1000 yard matches
The Garand, the M14 and even the Springfield were doing
so LONG BEFORE
the M16 came along

So what was the point you were trying to make ?

I'd prefer the Swiss K31 carbine for an all-around rifle if I
could get plenty of ammo, could it be effectively rechambered
to a .308? Otherwise I'd prefer the Garand having never
handled or shot one simply from what I've heard about it and
ease of finding and maybe reloading 30.06 rounds.

OTOH, I think I can get a good K31 for around $200, while the
Garand, if GunsAmerica is any indication, cost too much.

So what about rechambering the K31 to .308? Is it commonly
done, maybe sporterized K31s rechambered & ready to go?

I like the SKS too but worry about a good supply of ammo.
