We don't stop believing in "car freedom" because my high-school
classmate living across the street got busted three times for drunk
driving in a couple years. We don't stop believing in "car freedom"
because cars facilitate virtually all felonies outside one's home to
the point that they otherwise would be impossible. Get it?
But cars ARE regulated, registered, tagged with registration
plates, insured, etc. All so that (at least in theory) the
police you pay your taxes to fund can gain an advantage in
seeking and preventing car crime BEFORE it happens. (IOW,
legally required and enforcable accountability)
You can buy a car in the US without registering it. You can drive
it without doing so and without a license. All legally.
But to do something with it that could involve public
safety, you need licencing, registration, insurance. IOW, an
accountability mechanism.
Firearms are NOT OPERATED by the law-abiding in public
places except in emergencies where such licensing is waived.
No proof of identity is required for purchase of an automobile
per se.
No drivers license is required for purchase; no registration
is required at time of purchase.
You may freely transport your auto anywhere that is physically
practical without registering it.
You may even drive it many places with no such licenses.
A gun in a back yard, unlike a car, is still potentially
immediately lethal to the general public in their public
space, unlike a car, which has to be physically moved from
the back yard and into the public space, to commit a harmful
act on members of the public.
So is an automobile -- both are only lethal if there are PEOPLE
around.
Why am I having to explain this simple idea to you?
Because you didn't think your example THROUGH and we have
seen it many times and new immediately that you had failed to
give it that necessary consideration.
Firearms are NOT operated when carried for self-defense UNTIL
there is a life threatening emergency.
Automobiles also cause far more accidents and deaths of others by
the way as well.
