But you consider everyone should have the right to carry arms... and that includes muggers, burglars, rapist, serial-killers, car-jackers,
crack-dealers, pimps and all the folk you want to be safe from.
But, you see, those same bad people can have and easily get these
weapons NOW. They don't CARE about any 'gun control law.' By somehow
ensuring law abiding people can't legally obtain firearms, you've enabled
bad guys (who have no compunctions about breaking a gun law) to have a free
ride. Why are you so insistant upon law abiding people not being able to
defend themselves against gangstas, muggers, rapists, and murderers?
You hit the 'escalation' route. A sort of domesticated arms race which ends
up grannies with carrying assault rifles because muggers have got Glocks.
You are buggered because any weapon you can have, the proverbial 210lb
rapist can have too.
Awww. What utter crap have you been fed? C'mon. While the escalation
thing SOUNDS good, firearms have been around for quite long enough for any
possible escalation to have made itself felt. In case you don't know, except
for incremental improvements in material and constuction methods, there is
NOTHING NEW about todays firearms that was not available 100 years ago.
Single shot, self loading (semi automatic), fully automatic, all of these
things were around in the last years of the 19th century.
a few years ago, Remington asked for permission to manufacture and sell plastic handguns--handguns that would not set off metal detectors. Wisely, regulators said HELL NO.
bad people steal things, incl firearms from good people. good people in possession of guns are more likely to take momentary anger beyond the point of no return. most murders are committed by good people upon other good people, such as family members. What's your solution to that? Let me guess, stop some people from carrying,
the bad people, the people who might be a threat.... and hey, out the window
goes _their_ constitutional right to bear arms.
Wrong again. Hey, you're three for three! Bad people (felons) are
already subject to a loss of the constitutional right to possess firearms.
THEY HAVE NO SUCH RIGHT. It's called due process. Why do you want felons to
have firearms at the expense of law abiding people who can have none?

On the right,The John Birch Society's website editor recently opined of the Bush Administration's warrantless wiretap program: "This is to say that from the administration's perspective, the president is, in effect, our living constitution. This is, in a specific and unmistakable sense, fascist."
