Re: Russian Guns vs. American Guns

Wow. You've displayed so much stupidity (and done it so pompously) one
scarcely knows where to begin. Well, near the beginning, I suppose...

# Yes the gun restriction laws in the U.K. are very harsh. It is bad.
# Still the U.S.A. is going that way as well as the rest of the West.

Not even close. In fact, several more states have recently enacted
"right to carry" legislation, and the 2nd amendment continues to be
upheld in the courts. It's an ongoing battle, but the antis aren't
winning.

# I have lived in various countries, including the U.S.A.

And yet you display such profound ignorance about this country.

# and have fired lots of guns, several representatives, from U.S.A. and Russia, of each
# category discussed here

Then how is it that you've gotten the facts so wrong?

# I have discussed the Cold War with Eastern Europeans while living in
# Eastern Europe, and they do not love America

No one said they did.

# and hate Russia/U.S.S.R.

No, clearly they like being a part of the USSR. Oh, wait...wasn't
there a break-up a while ago? What do you suppose that was all about?

# Americans are ignorant about the wider world.

No more so than the average European. Your understanding of the U.S.,
for instance, is no better than the average U.S. citizen's
understanding of Germany. The delusion you're suffering from is due to
the fact that Eurpeans have a more intimate knowledge about a larger
number of countries...but primarily EUROPEAN countries, and those in
the immediate vicinity. Try consulting a global map sometime and
compare the size of Europe and the proximity of the countries making it
up with the size of the U.S., Mexico and Canada. It's as easy for a
European to drive from France to Italy as for a U.S. resident to drive
from Oregon to Idaho. Your claim is not only false, it is indicative
of a grossly simple-minded way of thinking.

# Even here in Airstrip One and Western Europe, the
# U.S.A. is almost universally disliked.

These attitudes come and go with the political tides. You'll forgive
us if we're not too choked up about the matter.

# Anyway there is probably
# nowhere that I could go and get killed for saying 'I am Russian and I
# am supporting the U.S.S.R.', but many places I would get killed for
# saying 'I am American and I am supporting the U.S.A., Israel etc.'

Well, yeah...the more important you are, and lacking any sort of a
counter-balance in relevance, the more likely you are to have enemies.
It's the way of things.

# Yes the Russian 9x19mm is their new main pistol round, that I was
# referring to. They are also working on a 9x21mm round that sounds
# interesting. I think you would have to admit that Russian pistol
# technology currently is ahead of American pistol technology. The .45 is
# as obsolete as a revolver. No one else in the World uses .45 rounds
# either.

Ah, yes...the "all the cool kids are doing it" mentality that most of
us abandon after grade school.

# #If you're measuring weapons performance in the post WWII period (the only period where they
# #have come into significant conflict), Russian armor, aircraft, artillery, anti-aircraft, radar,
# #etc., have been soundly defeated time and time again.
#
# Yeah, I'm talking about in real life, not in Steven Spielberg movies.
# Sorry for the confusion there.

The confusion is all yours. The previous poster WAS talking about real
life. You need to brush up on your post-WW II military history.

# Thanks for the links to ballistics papers. I treat such things with
# some scepticism, because they are all American (or Russian or whatever)

No. You treat them with faux scepticism because they prove you wrong.
You weren't the least bit skeptical when posting a link to a table from
a Russian site. So, you're pompous, ignorant AND a hypocrite.

# and the researchers are paid and funded by groups which want a certain
# result. I also prefer accounts from men who shot men with the gun in
# question, rather than the laboratory scientists.

No. You prefer accounts from Russian websites that are covered in
advertising from firearms vendors.

# Yes Mr. Kepler, anyone who questions total U.S. supremacy in
# everything, is obviously a troll. Well spotted sir. Go USA!

And now we see that you're also functionally illiterate. Your status
as a troll was declared based on the false pretenses of your original
post, not on any honest questioning of U.S. supremacy.
