The US is starting from a massively higher baseline. US citizens are TEN
TIMES more likely to be shot to death than Australians. A large drop in US
gun related homicides, still places it well above any other Western,
developed nation. Including Australia. As to why ours is not declining,
there could be a whole range of socialogical reasons. Here's a few
POSSIBILITIES:

* The increasing levels of violence in the media available to most people.
* The increasing levels of polulation levels in our major cities.
* The racial makeup of those populations.
* Poor policing and enforcement of existing laws (I beleive this to be a
major factor).
* Etc.

You left one out: Australians have had their right to carry a gun for
self defense curtailed.
