I think the information provided has much truth to it. However,========================
I still
think that there are numerous instances where animals are being
ill
treated.
Also, given the points outlined, I still don't see any moral
justification for the use of animals. It's a very speciest
attitude to
assume the health of humans out weighs the life of even one
animal.
ROTFLMAO If THAT is speciest, then what is your killing animals
for selfish entertainment, hypocrite?
Most would say, kill the animal, test on the animal, etc. but
this does
not mean it is a moral choice.
Additionally, I think that science always finds a way. Meaning,
if
animal testing wasn't an option, than other effective means
would be
researched and developed, which would most likley yield even
more
useful technology.
It should also be noted that all great political progress has
come from
the 'progressive political fringe' -- abolishion, civil rights,
womens
rights, etc. There is no social value in conservatism, aside
from
protecting the feelings of conservatives.
As a society we must constantly stretch and grow, and be ever
vigil in
our recognition of rights. The exploitation of animals ought to
be
eliminated if we want to grow as a society, the same way the
exploitation of other humans ought to be eliminated. To argue
for the
continued exploitation of animals is possible, however, it is
built
upon the same argument as a duty to rape, murder and steal --
the will
of the individual prevails over all.
