Abortion and the devils tool: half-truths, truths that lie.

Abortion and the devils tool: half-truths, truths that lie.

It is said that most injustice in this world is done in the name of
justice. Yes a paradox of sorts, that will repeat itself many times
in this letter.

I find it interesting, rather bizarre that a group advocating 'free
choice' would not allow a group to posters concerning the stance of
'pro-life'. I guess we should all have a free choice to do what we
believe to be right, and bear its responsibilities.

As a graduate of Lakehead University, I take the time to submit to my
fellow alumni some research I undertook over the past 17 years
concerning Truth, that relates to the abortion issue, at a time and
space that human civilization is educating itself on the issue of
'global warning': the destruction of life and the environment. Let
us appreciate that with Thunder Bay's declining population, and the
closing of elementary schools, and high schools, let us remember that
every year some 400 unborn children, 400 pregnancies are terminated
not through birth, but through the termination of their lives.

I would hope that most, obviously not all people see the traditional
family unit as the foundation of our society. Back in 1987 I set
forward some research into how the family unit was being threatened,
and divided. But before I get into that let me express to you the
need to understand the soon to be expanded definitions of three
important philosophical concepts, 'truth', 'half- truth' and 'lie' as
found in the OXFORD DICTIONARY. You see truth can lie, when the
truth in question is part of the whole truth.

In 1987, it was observed that the Children's Aid Society, defined
abuse of children with a classic half-truth, 'men who abuse, women
and children' victims. A rather corrupt racist, rather sexist,
bigoted model that reflected an anti-male agenda. In fact you can
drive to the US border and see another sign of inequity when many
special interest groups preach equality. The sign, reads, "In Ontario
Wife Abuse is Crime', another classic half-truth model that polarizes
the sexes, and is bound to do more harm than good; that is the dark
side of a half-truth.

The world of politics, women's politics as defined by feminism, is now
being critically accessed under the full scope of a range of political
values, shared and different values between conservative feminists,
liberal feminists, lesbian feminists, and more. While some of the
common goals of feminism were noble, the range of values and ideals
runs from one extreme to the next, just as in male politics, and like
anything be it the Catholic Church, or Government, it can be
corrupted away from its normal idealistic views.

Well let us examine this pro-choice, pro-life debate and clarify some
important points, with a critical eye and mind. The pro-choice side
considers abortion an issue concerning a womans body. Well in a more
critical examination, this is a half-truth, because abortion is a
decision impacting a body, an unborn child, in most all cases,
healthy, that is a part of of a pregnant woman. In most all cases
decisions were taken or not to allow the conception to take place, and
the body in question, belongs to both parents, and a God if you
believe in one. The pregnancy will terminate itself in a matter of
months following conception. So the real issue is that society must
weigh the cost of enduring a pregnancy to full term, and compare it to
the cost or benefit of the unborn child to society. I for one have
seen the tremendous value of people, who were born in less than normal
settings, and who have grown up to contribute to society and our
culture in a big way; to those people we must congratulate them for
their personal sacrifices, rather than shun them.

The social and feminist debate about abortion, ignores the simple
reality that most of these unborn children would have grown up to
become women of tomorrow. I am surprised that while the procedure is
legal in Canada, why the general public, many of which cannot get
simple health care services paid for by the government must fund other
individuals and their choices to have an abortion. Justice would
dictate that if you exercise a free choice, a choice that you were
physically and mentally mature enough to undertake, then you should
pay for your choice.

It is often stated that 'these unborn children' are not wanted, and
when you hear and see of local people traveling around the world to
adopt, ie Madonna, a orphan child at tremendous expense, the question
comes up, is this choice of adoption really pursued. Is society
appreciating the importance of any life, perfect or not ? On the
matter of pro-life, it seems that the drive to address global warming,
and pollution in the world, seems consistent with the drive to bring
value to the world, and to human life; is it ?.

As a graduate of the school of business, perhaps the marketing drives
of the last 30 years have educated individuals to focus on the rather
extreme materialistic values that focuses people on their very own
immediate selfish needs. Tragically the business community does
not address the many million of unborn children whose lives are
terminated prior to birth, they will have marketed short term gains,
for long term losses, especially when this future market is decline.
In Thunder Bay, enough unborn children lives are lost due to
abortions, enough to fill a small high school, every year..

The complexities of unwanted pregnancies is very difficult one, for
all those involved, and the government and social groups should be
doing more to support family and children. Perhaps we should be
stopping the violence of women, of men and of children, no matter the
form it takes, perhaps we as a society are simply engaging in the
same decisions that is polluting our world and destroying it; selfish
greed.
