"Self-evident" and "assumed" are synonymous. Are you incapable of one
honest, reasoned, and intelligent reply?
"Self-evident" means "reveals itself directly", so that anyone who is not
blind can confirm it simply by observation. For example, the Sun is
self -evident, because it reveals itself directly, by its own nature.
A "self-evident truth" therefore, reveals itself directly, by its own
nature, so that anyone who is not blind to truth (i.e. self-deceived) can
confirm it simply by observation (i.e. by knowing it.)
If you don't get it, you don't get it.
cannot actually support his claim.
Maybe in your circle that is the case. But in my circle, we are very serious
about life, and we are not careless and wasteful of our energy.
That is not in accordance with observation.
When I say
that it is self-evident that impersonal undirected processes cannot produce
personal directed entities, I am choosing my words carefully, and I am not
bluffing.
But you are avoiding presenting evidential support for your claim.
Self-evident truths (such as that the sun orbits the earth, or that parallel lines never meet) have on occasion been found to be false.
In my circle, claiming something is self-evident is done when that thing is,
in fact, self-evident.
