If your confused about what to feel penance for...
1) Wearing skimpy underwear to bed, and turning up the radiator to
compensate.
2) Buying clothing from "next, burtons, marks, etc" knowing in the
back of our minds that little kids are slaving away.
3) Walking past the homeless person *BEGGING* for food, and
*pretending* we have no change.
4) Disrespecting our parents.
5) Exaspirating our children.
6) Not open to any agreement.
7) Unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection...(woops, the
scriptures were one step ahead for a minute)
Etc Etc.
Is there a perfect man here on TO?
If so, you have no need to apologise, if not, why don't you?
I have done one and two. I don't _often_ do three. The ones I don't
give to are the ones who try to _intimidate_ people into giving them
money and I make it perfectly clear to them that I have money and they
aren't getting any. I wasn't as respectufl to my stepfather as I
should have been. He wasn't always right but he had some good points
and I never gave him credit. I am sorry for that. I was always
respectful to my mother except when we were talking about bridge. And
she had a sense of humor about the silly game, so my criticism didn't
hurt her. I miss her. I have spoiled my niece and my great-niece to
the limit of my ability. Each of them, a generation apart, decided
that "I'm gonna tell Uncle Bill" was a good way to get their parents
to mind. It didn't work, of course. I am always reasonable and open to
agreement, never take a hardline position and refuse to budge. The
seventh one there is so general. I don't think I'm guilty of it much.
