Curious to what you guys think the gravatational forces of this event
could mean. Could it rip off the magnectic sheild? Toss the oceans
around the globe? Or do you believe absolutley nothing related will
occur.

Do any creationist believe it will be the second coming of Christ?

Here is a question: Why do you suppose the planets, asteroids, and
assorted ice chunks of the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud orbit the sun
instead of independently orbiting the center of the galaxy? (hint:
think of the relative strengths of the force of gravity due to the sun
and due to the center of the galaxy - remember that gravity falls off
as the square of the distance between attracting bodies). Then
consider that whatever happened last time this event occurred left no
trace in Earth's geological record - no spikes of volcanism, no abrupt
changes in biota, no mass extinctions, no record of inundations,
nothing. Then recall that the big deal about the calendar change in
the Mayan Long Count is just that - you flip over another page of the
calendar and all of a sudden it's October instead of September and you
start counting days from 1 again. Then you may begin to understand
why I find this both amusing (as an example of how silly folks can be)
and mildy irritating (why, for the love of wisdom, can't folks bloody
THINK?? ). And I fully expect the next day will be much the same as
the day before. I could be wrong, of course, but I'm not losing sleep
over it.
