And what "vacuous arguments" are you talking about? In my
understanding, vacuous arguments would be of the type creationists
make, since they base it on total ignorance and/or apathy about the
actual subject matter.

One vacuous argument is that "the fossil record supports evolution." But that is only a biased interpretation, not a fact. The actual fossil record shows only that at different times different kinds of creatures were fossilized, and some of the fossilized creatures in earlier strata resembled some of the fossilized creatures in later strata.

it shows descent with modification. that's how evolution is DEFINED.

of COURSE it shows nested hierarchies...similiarities between
creatures. that's a PREDICTION of evolution
