Nah....
I don't enjoy christian-fundamentalist fantasy. Besides, the idea of
"rapture", on which the books are based is profoundly unbliblical..
I supose the whole :
"For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in
Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be
CAUGHT UP together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the
air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians
4:16-17)
slipped past you
Did you miss the previous verse?
15 According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still
alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not
precede those who have fallen asleep.
The "we who are still alive" shows that it was supposed to have
happened while Paul was still alive. Instead, the temple in Jerusalem
was destroyed. Paul was wrong and Christians have read the Book of
Mark wrong for nearly 2000 years. Mark explains why Jesus got fed up
with people. Remember that the book ends with the women being afraid
to tell. The last 12 verses were added a few hundred years later.
Piggybacking...
Isn't it interesting what happens when you read a text *in context*?
By stripping individual verses out of the Bible and removing them from
their original contexts, you can make the Bible say just about
anything that you want it to. This is the essence of quote mining, and
look! You're doing it too!- Hide quoted text -
- Show quoted text -
No wonder none of you can understand the Bible. NONE OF YOU CAN READ.
Of course we will NOT preceded those who have fallen asleep. He says
WHY in the same damn sentence! Some of you are most amusing. Hell. I
cannot buy this kind of entertainment.
Now, normally I would let this go and let you guys laugh your way down
the wrong road; But, i sense that you are after some kind of truth so
I will clue you in.
15According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are
still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will
certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
Which means that "we" (as in during the generation in which Jesus will
return) will not be with the lord until the dead in Christ rise FIRST.
AND --those that ARE LEFT till his comming
Your pal Greg did not go back far enough. In verse 13 PAUL IS TALKING
ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THE DEAD. And, if Greg had been paying attention
to what Jesus had said, Jesus taught "No one knows the hour or day of
his return but God. So Paul taught to expect the return anytime after
the death of Christ which included his generation or after. He plainly
says so and refers to "those who are still alive"(his generation),
AND, he refers to those who are "still left till his comming"(any
future genertaion) in the same sentence as he says we will not
preceede the dead. Which means ANY generation that Christ returns in
will not proceede those that have died being transformed into
spiritual bodies.
I love when these nut sacks try to use the Bible to discredit the
bible.
None of you can read.
BTW. The Gospel of Mark did not change one fraction with the
additional ending the CC added. And there was a notation that the
ending had been added so that the original as well as the second
ending could be compared with other documents.
1)Jesus taught he would return
2)Paul taught Jesus would return
3)Jesus said no man will no the day or the hour but warned every bride
should be ready with their lamp oil none the less.
4)Paul taught his generation to be ready and all of the others that
would follow his generation.
Since none of you actually want to READ THE BOOK to see for
yourselves, i'll show you more of the bible that supports the rapture
theory:
Matthew 24:30-36
"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and
all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man
coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he
will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather
his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the
other.
"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven,
nor the Son, but only the Father. (NIV)
Matthew 24:40-41
Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the
other left. (NIV)
John 14:1-3
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In
my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told
you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me
that you also may be where I am. (NIV)
Acts 1:9-11
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a
cloud hid him from their sight.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when
suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee,"
they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same
Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the
same way you have seen him go into heaven." (NIV)
1 Corinthians 15:51-52
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all
be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised
imperishable, and we will be changed. (NIV)
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command,
with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and
the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive
and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to
meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
(NIV)
Philippians 3:20-21
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from
there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to
bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so
that they will be like his glorious body. (NIV)
The only nut sack posting in this thread has an empty religious
scrotum who is non fecund from word go and it is Madman himself.
Pitiful poltroonish proselytizing. Jesus has been weeping since you
began posting.
Have you no shame?
