It is flat hilarious to see a thread (all of which I
refuse to read) among non-experts determined to
argue about the deep aspects of general relativity.
I had a co-worker once, helping me and others build
an operating system for a dedicated CAD/CAM
computer.
Let's call him "Pete", since that was his name.
In conversation one day I asked Pete where he had
gotten his degree, assuming he must have snatched
one of the early computer science degrees.
He explained that he had a doctorate in physics,
specializing in general relativity, and was also a
highly trained scholar (Masters degree attained) in
technical German.
Startled, I asked the "why" question "why are you
doing this (scutt level programming) instead of
doing what you took your training to do?"
He responded that he'd done those seven years of
work in physics and German purely in order to be
able to read and understand Einstein in the
original, with complete comprehension, had done so,
considered his seven years well spent, but had never
at any time intended to _work_ in such an esoteric
field.
A typical good for nothing kind of person
who uses study as an excuse for not doing any real work.
Oh well, he found something useful to do after all,
when he really had to.
Unless there are any here who have spent equal
effort with no expectation of gain to understand
General Relativity, may I suggest you all STFU,
since you know not whereof you speak?
If all real physicists wasted their youth in this way
theoretical physics would never make much progress.
Why, even as history of physics it has no merit,
