So we agree.
Mass cant enter a Black Hole.
Now, what is Y.O.O's explanation for this phenomena?
The mass, eventuyally, gets converted to energy, photos, for the most
part, which due to the warpage of space-time, "falls" into the event
horizon, but not before some of it escapes in the form of photons
throughout the whole EM spectrum.
I was under the impression that it was gravitational potential energy that got converted into photons in the accretion disk of a black hole (or other massive compact object). Some of the infalling matter also escapes as relativistic jets - but I'm not familiar with the mechanism by which this occurs.
I'm not aware of the actual mass of the infalling matter being converted to energy, and it seems to me that baryon and lepton number conservation would get in the way. On the one hand an accretion disc might get hot enough for fusion; on the other hand in a sufficiently hot disc endothermic reactions such as p + e -> n + v would be possible.
But then again, don't forget the relativistic effects on mass and
time.
