Thank you for your thoughtful response. My questions were, ultimately,
focused on the usefulness and validity of Ian's arguments. If I
understand correctly, your answer is that his calculations are greatly
simplified and that determining the likelihood of further progression
to a living cell is another issue entirely. I'm sorry to be blunt
here, but it seems to me that the initial conditions are too simple
for the result to relevant to the determination of the probability of
abiogensis or comparison to biogenisis. I will follow-up on your
suggestions of other resources. I fear that some significant brain
stretching/wrapping is going to be required :)
