Where does it mention that the Earth is flat, Andrew?
According to andrew, Isaiah thought the earth was a circle,
as such Isaiah fell through the whole in the middle as *ALL* circles
have them.
And thus couldn't write what he did.
"In everyday use, the term "circle" may be used interchangeably to
refer to either the boundary of the figure (known as the perimeter) or
to the whole figure including its interior."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle
Forgive me for assuming that Isaiah didn't have a stricter, modern
education(Which would include evolution, mind you.).
Now many physicists refer to the "Disk" of the moon.
So I guess they *ALL* should be fired also.
Many biologists refer to the "common descent" of species as well. But
if you don't trust one type of scientist, why would you trust another?
I did a test earlier this year and *EVERYONE* here believes the hole
in the centre of a doughnut (torus) is a *circle*.
When in reality it is a circle of negative curvature, and more
resembles a Hyperbola.
But do you deny that circles are two-dimensional?
Ignoring the facts that the bible word for "circle" is "vault", as in
"pole vault" or "arch", and it refers to the "vault - arch" of the
sky, which is a 2d outer surface vault continuing in a great sphere.
Actually, this is a rather fascinating area you're getting into(Also,
I love how you added to scripture with the whole "continuing in a
great sphere" thing. I've done that with, "But God made them male and
female in the beginning(through evolution)".). See, the Bible has both
"vault" and "circle" within it; raqiya and chuwg, respectively. Both
terms are used to describe heaven, and both terms refer to physical
objects. What exactly am I getting at? Well, this website can explain
it better than I: http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/febible.htm
"the Hebrew word raqiya, which meant the visible vault of the sky. The
word raqiya comes from riqqua, meaning “beaten out.” In ancient times,
brass objects were either cast in the form required or beaten into
shape on an anvil. A good craftsman could beat a lump of cast brass
into a thin bowl. Thus, Elihu asks Job, “Can you beat out [raqa] the
vault of the skies, as he does, hard as a mirror of cast metal (Job
37:18)?”
Elihu's question shows that the Hebrews considered the vault of heaven
a solid, physical object. Such a large dome would be a tremendous feat
of engineering. The Hebrews (and supposedly Yahweh Himself) considered
it exactly that..."
The bible refers to the vault covering the sea, & the earth hanging in
empty space.
Again, heaven is a physical object crafted by god, this is why the
dome that is heaven sits atop the earth, while the earth(plus the
dome) sit in empty space in the center of the universe. If we look at
Enoch, we can see that the edge of the dome can easily be reached if
one travels far enough. We can also see that it's through gates at the
edges of the earth that things like hail, snow, rain or even the stars
come out.
Obviously *ANY* reasonable person recognises, thebible writers knew
the earth was a sphere that hung in empty space.
I'd like to see any sort of logical proof of this claim.
