Creationism can be shown to be superstitious nonsense, atheism can't.

No it cannot.

The twaddle we see here on t.o. is superstitious nonsense but no one
can disprove the idea that there was a creator god who set the whole
thing in motion and guided all events to their present state.

And that's creationism too.

As in matters of fact, the Burden Of Proof is NOT on the dissenting
side; It is on the side claiming that something IS, rather than on the
side saying IS NOT.

Before we begin, let me say this: you really need to switch to decaf.

Ah, starting with Ad Hominem Alone, the last refuge of the *whipped*
scoundrel...

I've seen many legal cases LOSE badly with that as the starting
"strategy".

Those making such claims that you define as "lower case c"
creationism bear that burden. Their record in providing some evidence
is AbZero, ergo, since they have stated that it is not about facts

This was not a science class. It was a history class. Discussion
topics in history class are not subject to the rigors of the
scientific method. And matters of faith are not subject to a burden of
proof.

Where they make claims about science, sure, they are.

and
evidence in their view, that earns them the criticism of being
"superstitious nonsense". Even "religious superstitious nonsense".

And that statement, when uttered by a teacher in a US public school,
clearly, unambiguously, forthrightly and without hesitation violates
the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

Unless the person they are saying that to *opened the door* by
bringing IN a religious argument over a matter of science.

If such folks do not wish to bear any such earned criticism, then
they have the avenue of not trying to push their views onto others.

Which the student is in no position to do, but the teacher is.
Teachers in K-12 classes occupy a priveleged position of authority
where almost anything they say is treated as correct by definition.

You haven't been in a school, lately, have you ?

Abuse of that position necessitates immediate action. This teacher
overstepped the bounds.

I would say that this teacher was at the edge of the bounds. But,
by bringing IN a religious argument for a matter of the material
world, the student opened the door to a rebuttal.

I don't recall door to door guys pushing atheism going around. Or,
tax free churches promoting that there are no deities.

Non sequiturs, both.

Evasion of points noted.

So, religion already gets several Free Passes in society; They
have AbZero claim to be criticism free, when THEY bring the
topic up in the first place.

Religion gets a free pass because the alternative becomes unthinkable..

ASSertion alone fails. If you have an actual case to make on that
point,
then *make it*.

I guess atheists can forget the Thirty Years' War as easily as
fundies. Thank goodness the Founders did not forget it.

Once again, an empty ASSertion, devoid of any actual argument.

I accept your concession.

Andre

I didn't realize I was dealing with Pagano's Evil Twin.

Andre has not yet learned how to disagree without being disagreeable.

It is a common trait amongst ideologues.
