I always get a chuckle out of that too. I tell them to compare what
recent history is like, then compare it to the time that plague wiped
out 1/3 of the population of Europe.

It's supreme arrogance to think that the end times must come during
*their* lifetime.

From the relativistic perspective of the viewer, they always do.
