I have posted here in the past and found you to be very helpful.
I hope that you can help me out. I am in a long term debate with a
creationist and he has constantly referred to how "Quantum Mechanics
is undermining evolution and science"-I have challenged him to back up
his claims and recently they have posted this article
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article5324234.ece
The relevant part is about halfway down and refers to the work of
Henry Stapp.
In short I would like to know is the work of QM undermining evolution/
science? are we likely to see the change to "the rise of secular mater-
ialism over the past 200 years"
Any help would be greatly appreciated
be anything to do with evolution there. Is your opponent making the
tacit assumption that evolution equals atheism, and therefore if god
exists there is no evolution? If so, that's a silly assumption. If not,
I don't see any connection.
My opponent used to try and make the connection with evolution and did
try to connect his idea with the assumptions that you raise, however
on this occasion they are trumpeting the idea expressed in the article
that the last 200 years of materialistic science is under threat and
the work of Henry Stapp could see a paradigm shift in science.

movement: Those who believe that quantum mechanics somehow conforms to
or confirms some of the assertions of new age movements. Quantum
Quackery IMHO.
geez this is dating myself, but i remember something like 30 years ago
there was a political party in the US (the 'natural law' party) headed
by a PhD quantum physicist who said QM demonstrated that buddhism was
true....
it never stops
