Personality is NOT an evolved trait. Personality does not come from
chemical reactions or all personalities would be the same.

attribute, though arguably it could be extended to other social
mammals. Dogs and cats seem to have "personalities".
In humans our personality stems from epigenetic interaction between
genetic factors during development and nongenic factors such as
parenting, peer group dynamics, education and perhaps even birth
order.
Personality is influenced by chemical reactions. The levels and
actions of neurotransmitters influence psychological states such as
mood and this is but a part of personality. The way our brains
differentate during development is influence by genes and also
various chemicals at cell surfaces, along extracellular matrices,
and in signal transduction pathways with the neurons. Even now our
synapses have a part in who we are. Temperament like whether one is
a hy recluse or outgoing thrill seeker seems to have a genetic
component.
First, A lot more then social animals have personality. We just observe the social animals
personality more because we are around social animals more.
Next, Personality has factors that can be shown how they manifest themselves as you have done.
But it does not describe how the finer points of personality and the intrinsic factors manifest.
Things like love are subjective to the individual. The various way different creatures show love
cannot be explained with the firing of synapses or with neurons and chemical processes. But they
can be influenced by chemical reactions and even altered. Alcohol would be an example.
Another description comparable to yours is gravity. Gravity exists because we can measure it's
effects on the physical world. Just as you have done with personality. But we know that gravity
cannot physically manifest itself. Neither can personality. We can only show how personality is
measured in the physical body with biological processes. But their individual intrinsic factors
remain elusive.
And of course, there is no amount of actions by neurotransmitters that can explain why animals
will run from danger. If these processes were just chemical, then it is unlikely life would have
a concern of death because they would just be processes that simply exist in various forms with
various chemical reactions.
