There needs to be some public service announcements by some

I admit that what I read may not be representative of the whole, but I
see a lot of effort devoted to telling everyone how it violates the
establisment clause to teach whatever anti-evolution nonsense the
activists come up with. That is necessary, of course, but it seems to
come at the expense of actually helping people who have been misled,
but are not hopelessly committed to anti-evolution pseudoscience. The
"us vs. 'the creationists'" style that comes across is particularly
annoying, as is the tendency to assume what the activists believe
rather than ask them to answer simple questions and show how they
evade them.
It reminds me of that condescending commercial that infuriated me ~35
years ago (about speeding, I think): "Not because it's a good idea.
Because it's the law."
As one who actually (briefly) advocated "teach the controversy" I
think we are failing at educating the public why allowing
misrepresentations, which have undergone 40+ years of "selection" for
rhetorical excellence, is a terrible idea. Whether or not paid for by
taxes. Instead of saying "Teach creationism/ID in Sunday School" we
ought to be saying "Teaching creationism/ID in Sunday School may be
legal, but it is still bearing false witness."
I was moved to post this gripe after reading the previous thread just
posted about a Methodist minister who claims to have a degree in
biology. This ignoramus spews such utter crap, crap that has been
proven to be false time and time again for decades now, that I am very
upset to see such crap foisted upon a gullible public.
I agree with the guy who replied to the other two bozos who want to
redefine micro and macro evolution in public schools. People like that
should be put into prison for TREASON. Not only that, if they have
children and they are teaching their children such crap, they should
also be charged with CHILD ABUSE.
The problem with that is that it's impossible to determine if it's
willful decepton or igorance. While some of the activists do deserve
jail (I can hope that God will deal with them in the afterlife is
there is one), keeping them out of the classroom is sufficient.
McCain decided my vote recently. I really do respect McCain more than
any other Republican I know of from the past twenty or thirty years.
However, since he picked a fundie bozo for his running mate, I now
must vote against him.
This is my 10th presidential election. I have never been happy with
any of the choices, but this is the worst of all.
