Some of you will know whom I refer to... a claim made on YouTube by a
certain "VenomFangX", debunked thoroughly in thunderf00t's great "Why do
people laugh at creationists?" series.
So why do I post this here? Well, to check whether my memory fails me
completely or not. :)
If I remember correctly, that claim is nonsensical (ignoring all the other
reasons for a moment) simply because _chemistry_ deals with how atoms
interact, form molecules et al... while the mechanisms of how and when
elements might become other elements (radioactivity... is there any other
reason I fail to remember at the moment?) is something covered by
_physics,_ specifically nuclear physics. In other words, just another
creationist demonstrating that (paraphrasing a posting to alt.atheism not
too long ago) his grasp of science lacks opposable thumbs.
Is my memory still working? Correct me if I'm wrong :)
It's possible to differentiate between electronic chemistry, which
deals on how atoms of various elements react with each others and form
molecules, and nuclear chemistry, which deals on how atoms change one
into another and what happens to molecules when in these occasions.
However, chemistry without qualifications usually refers to former.
