Lets see about that. If you don't pay your taxes, husky young men carrying arms will take you to court and then to jail. Your property will be siezed by force. Now tell me what moral (as opposed to legal) obligation we have to fund exporation of Mars. By what principle do we -owe- money to fund such a thing. I can see requiring people to pay for the police and the courts which are there to protect their rights. I can even see extracting money to combat contagious diseases. But stealing money to build rocket ships? Come on! Be reasonable.
