rather unique thermoregulation problems. Also, they

I suppose the fact that attendance at caverns and caves goes up on hot
days, means we also had subterranean ancestors . . . . ?

Chimps don't like caves as much as we do either - though see:

....so yes: quite a number of our ancestors probably lived in caves.
