What I'd like to ask him is simply this; Does life require a
Designer?
I think that the first life forms involved a force that we do not
understand; in an Aquinas type of thought, I am happy to call that God
but that is simply a personal religious belief, neither based on nor
contradicted by science.
You believe life was intelligently designed then?
I believe that there is a superior being, to what extent (s)he interfered
with how things evolved and developed is unknown to us and not of any
particular relevance in religious terms.
On what planet did the "superior being" evolve? At what point did
abiogenesis occur on that planet - or do you claim a superior superior
being.
Were would it all end? Turtles all the way down?
Or if you object to that,
how about you believe that your god, an intelligent all powerful being,
errm, designed life....errr, nope, that's still intelligent design, isn't
it? OK, let's try this; the Christian god, an intelligent supernatural
being....ahh, crap. It's not working, is it?
I can give you Michael Behe's email address if you'd like :)
One of the things that I detest about the ID movement his how they have
effectively hijacked the whole argument on design which is something that
goes right back to the earliest philosophers; it seems to me that to in
order to make any sort of teleological argument nowadays, you almost need a
five page disclaimer to show you are not a supporter of ID as it is
popularly perceived today :(
Forget it, there is no evidence of design.
