Relax. No living being can fill in that blank, and there lies
the problem.
You do NOT have to directly compare modern humans
with humans of 250,000 years ago.
You're right. Because nobody is disputing that there have
been changes in the last quarter to a million years.
However, if you want to claim that changes are accumulating
faster NOW than they were THEN, you need both the data
from 250,000 years ago as well as the earlier population
which you are comparing THEM to.
