Well sure, because, without the requirement of empirical verification,
virtually any local phenomenon can be extended to produce whatever
global effect you fancy, and we can all move to Wonderland.

the same can be said of what YOU have given as an example of
calculating the effects of planetary orbits. we can not test celestial
mechanics over the entire life of a planet's orbit yet you think
celestial mechanics is science.

because
you keep referring to the genome as if it can be modified in isolation

That's correct -- modification happens in isolation.

Genomes, however, do not, and that is another fundamental science
problem for this particular brand of extrapolation without
observation.

?? are you saying the environment can not effect ANY changes on
ANYTHING? ever hear of 'weather'?

without considering the viability of the corresponding organism at every
generation.

Selection handles the "consideration of viability", and it is considered
at every generation.

Yet you can't produce an operational description of exactly how this
would occur to produce the purported effect. Selection-does-it, but
exactly what is being done is largely a mystery aside from the desired
outcome surely resulting.

well...no. differential reproduction is not a mystery. death before
reproduction is not a mystery.

what IS a mystery is why people still believe 'god did it' explains
anything at all.

You are assuming the viability of all transitional generations.

This reminds me of Kenneth Miller's question at the start of his biology
class:  "How many of your direct ancestors died in childhood?"  If a
generation (more correctly, an individual) is transitional, it *had* to
be viable by definition.  If it wasn't viable, or wasn't sufficiently
fit, or was just unlucky, it became a terminal point.

The issue is the very existence of transitional generations and why
they should be possible under a given mechanism.

i have tourette's syndrome, caused by a dominant gene. none of my
parents have it. i am a mutation. i am a transitional generation

QED.

and you have failed...as always...to answer the question of why 'god
did it' answers any question about the natural world.
