(February 6, 2008) -- There has been a lot of debate over intelligent
design vs. evolution. Evolution has never been proven.
Darwin stated, "If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ
existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous
successive slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break
down."
Well, it has been proven that the bacterial flagellum, the tiniest
irreducible complex molecular machine used as a motor to move a cell,
could never have been produced by a Darwinian mechanism or evolution.
The individual parts of the ring structure of this bacterial motor are
made up of an assembly of 40 protein structures fitted together in a
specific shape, each with a specific different function. These
proteins are the essential building blocks of every existing cell on
Earth.
There are more than 30,000 distinct types of proteins made up of
different combinations of 20 different amino acids that can only be
sequentially arranged correctly by DNA.
The first living cells could not have existed without these proteins,
and the first proteins could not have existed without the genetic
instructions of DNA. Without DNA, there is no self-replication, but
without self-replication, there is no natural selection. So you can't
use self-replication to explain the origin of DNA, without assuming
the existence of the very thing you are trying to explain.
Goodbye, evolution and natural selection. Intelligent design is back
on the table.
There is no entity in the known universe that stores, relays or
transmits more information more efficiently than DNA. Human DNA has
more than 3 billion characters, an information system that conveys
detailed instructions like a computer program but is much more complex
than any we have been able to devise.
