I am neither a Christian nor a Jew, yet
I like to think that my approach to science is "thoroughly grounded in
the Word of God," specifically God's Word to me though the evidence.
And in a way, it is a "biblical framework," because I am constantly
reminded "thou shalt not bear false witness" and "thou shalt not
steal"
Wow. How, like, *totally* biblical. I mean, gee, it's not as if anyone would
ever have thought of *either* of those directives if they *weren't written
down in the 'bible'*, now is it...?
Sure they would have.
Doesn't it ever strike you people how shatteringly selective your
perceptions are when it comes to your need to ally yourselves with this
rubbishy old text?
Heck, even the most hard-core literalists cherry pick the parts they
like and ignore what they don't. I at least admit it.
I mean, you blithely ignore the seven chapters on animal
sacrifice; you don't give a *** about the two chapters on the detection and
treatment of leprosy; you have no regard at all for all the chapters on
Jewish dietary law; and you are instantly dismissive of 99% of all the other
rules (like the one about stoning your bride to death on her father's
doorstep if she turns out not to be a virgin). In short, the crappy old book
is packed full of stuff that you write off as irrelevant primitive nonsense
without even a second thought. Yet you find two *absolutely elementary
statements* that embody *basic moral perceptions* that *probably pre-date
homo sapiens* -- and straight away you call yourself someone who operates in
a 'biblical framework'....
I agree that the "two *absolutely elementary statements* that embody
*basic moral perceptions*" "*probably pre-date homo sapiens*." And
certainly pre-date the Bible, which was written by, and translated
many times by, H. sapiens. At least some H. sapiens thought to write
them down, even if they felt it necessary to add a lot of unnecessary
stuff in the same book.
Honestly, the absolute IDIOCY of such behaviour is something I cannot find a
polite euphemism for. You people really do behave as if you have
*brain-injuries*. How the hell do you all manage to compartmentalise your
minds to the extent that a part of them is allowed to be *so fucking
stupid*...?
M.
Calm down. You might give people the impression that *you* think that
the Bible is some kind of supernaturally originated (by Satan
perhaps?) master document.
BTW, I don't even own a copy of the Bible. Most of it's content bores
me to death.
