Where is it required?  Who requires it?

The requirement is for empirical observation (not necessarily a
fossil). Doesn't seem like too much to ask.

This doesn't answer my question, does it? Your wording would imply
that there is some sort of objective standard at work. To have a
workable theory, X is required. But I submit that what we're talking
about is what *You* have decided to require. Which is fine, but let's
be up front about that.

And you aren't just asking for any old empirical observation. You
seem to be asking for someone to produce the actual birth certificates
for the offspring of a fossil, or some such thing.

If you personally have decided to never be convinced of common descent
because the level of evidence you require cannot possibly be obtained,
well, that's of course your business and you certainly have my
blessing.

All extant birds
evolved from a bird that had full flight capability.

A bird you can't identify.

But you otherwise admit the statement?

Not without something more tangible.
