From Sean's Site:
"As far as the fossilized bones of large animals, such as the
dinosaurs and large mammals, they are also generally oriented in the
same direction for any given layer, and this is true the world over."
It is? That's news to me, and I have been collecting fossils in the
field for 40 years. The simple fact is that in the case of most
fossilized bones we simply don't have the information which would
allow us to form such a conclusion. Historically such information was
not recorded. In many cases even of modern finds such information is
not available. There are, of course, instances in which bones *are*
oriented the same way, and there is usually evidence to support
hypotheses of *why* they are oriented the same way, but to claim that
this is *generally* the case is simply false.
From Sean's Site:
"Did these animals position themselves in the same direction as they
died? This does not really sound too likely."
No scientists has ever suggested that the animals positioned
themselves in the same direction!
From Sean's Site:
"Even the legs and tails of these animals are oriented in the same
direction for a given sedimentary layer. How does this happen?"
We know the answer to this, of course. Currents in water tend to cause
long bones to align themselves in the same direction, something we
know from field studies of existing taphonomic assemblages and
laboratory experiments:

By the way, this is just *one* paragraph from his page, and it is so
riddled with distortion, misrepresentation and outright falsehoods
that it is evident that either Sean doesn't have a clue about the
subject, or is systematically lying to support his argument.
Does anyone think that Sean has any credibility whatsoever?
I am confused. Even if they were aligned, what would it mean? What
does Sean suggest it means?
Chris
As far as I can judge from reading his page, his argument seems to go
like this:
The bones are oriented because of water currents.
Floods create currents in water.
Therefore the bones must have been laid down by a global flood.
This may seem like strange logic, but it is a form of logic on which
he seems to rely rather heavily. This is why I have speculated that
Sean inhabits a parallel universe in which the rules of logic operate
differently than in ours. In his universe, the following logic is
sound:
"All mackerel are fish, therefore all fish are mackerel."

Richard: your attack on the logic is illogical. IF there is an
orientation THEN the logic of water currents causing the orientation,
and the interpretation and conclusion of a global flood, is sound.
This logical construction is not the same as (quoting you): "All
mackerel are fish, therefore all fish are mackerel."
All I am commenting on is the logic while assuming the facts stated.
It is illogical to say your latter characterization/quote equates to
the logic of orientation-water currents-global flood. Based on the
facts presented your only choice is to deny that an orientation exists
because it is perfectly logical to assert that the same was caused by
water currents caused by a global flood, OR; you need to postulate a
different causation if you agree that a orientation does exist.
