Yesterday I saw a bumper sticker that read:
"TRUTH -- not tolerance"
If that sentiment is widespread, and I fear that my google search
confirms that it is actually preached in some fundamentalist circles,
then we have far worse things to fear and combat than mere elimination
of the teaching of evolution.
Look at it this way. If you believe that Jesus scarificed himself for
your sins and is the son of God, then you probably believe that if you
ain't a Christian, you have it wrong. And if your so sure you got it
right than how can you logically support religious tolerance or for
that matter freedom of thought since wrong thinking will get a person
hell and it is the duty of the Righteous to save those whose lives are
in peril, it is only their speech that should be allowed.
See it all makes sense now.
Actually it does make sense and if you [universal you,not you in
particular] do believe that stuff than you how can you possibly be
tolerant of other beliefs? And if you are tolerant, what does that
say about the strength of your beliefs? Better we all be agnositic
than the other choices because even a true athiest should be
intolerant of people who worship magical and invisible beings.
