Hello,
I've just got a small introduction to ESS (through "The selfish
Gene";well, I'm a beginner) and I had the following questions:-
Are the individuals in a species conscious of the ESS trends and their
adaption to them?
nope, when considering the "selfish gene" the unit in question is
individual gene not the individual "animal"...genes have no
consiousness. You also seem to be approaching it from the wrong way,
it is natural selection acting on the genes that "makes" an ess, if
the environment changes and the natural selection pressures change a
new ess may well come about as this is the best way to transmit
"genes", the "individual organism" will have no consious or even
unconcious say in the matter.
If they unconsciously adapt an ESS, then what ( or which parts of
their brains) decides that the individual should follow the trends?
N/A...see above
N/a...see above
What is the nature of the threshould information that an individual
requires to change from one strategy to the ESS? For instance, would
the individual require direct bruises caused due to its lack of ESS to
adapt to ESS? If yes, then how would a survival machine find the ESS?
Through trial-and-error or through memory-and-contemplation?
Hope you uderstand the context of my questions.
Regards.
hope you excuse the lack of "vocabulary" 5pm and about to go home from
work.
