Thats silly. Of course the slab experiences compression.Thats because
it encounters resistance as it subducts further into the mantle.
That has nothing to do with whether it can pull other lithosphere
along.
The issue is that there is no tension inside the slab => No pull
whatsoever. Check Doglioni's paper.
