Yeah, I know. Density increases so does the negative buyoancy and the
slab should sink.

The problem is that there should be tensional stress in the slab if it
was sinking and pulling. There is none. The stress is compressional
along the slab axis.
These data are not compatible at all with the slab pull concept.
