I've never heard a Creationist try to explain the iridium via
flood geology, but let me take a stab at it:

Iridium is a distinctive metal that couldn't help but come to our
attention.

The name iridium comes from the Latin, iris, which means
"rainbow."

Dinosaurs once existed, but are now extinct.

All dinosaur fossils are found below the iridium layer.

The Bible says:
1. That God destroyed the Earth in a flood.
2. That God made a pact with Noah after the flood that He wouldn't
do it again, and created a rainbow as a symbol of this pact.

Conclusion: dinosaurs were killed in the Flood, and the layer of
iridium was laid down through special creation by God as evidence
for scientists in a later age that the Flood really happened.
