The entire ark was made of Iridium. Of course, it had to be enormous
in order to hold all the animals. As the waters began to recede, the
ark dissolved into them, leaving a layer of iridium-laced sediment all
around the world. That's why the ark has never been found and a layer
of Iridium covers the extinct species from the pre-flood era.
It wasn't the entire ark. Just one of the laminations of the gopher
wood was iridium.
It's easy to come up with explanations for just about anything when
you are permitted (or *required*) to sever your connections to
reality.
