I've never heard a Creationist try to explain the iridium via flood
geology, but let me take a stab at it:
Iridium is a distinctive metal that couldn't help but come to our
attention.
The name iridium comes from the Latin, iris, which means "rainbow."
Dinosaurs once existed, but are now extinct.
All dinosaur fossils are found below the iridium layer.
The Bible says:
1. That God destroyed the Earth in a flood.
2. That God made a pact with Noah after the flood that He wouldn't do
it again, and created a rainbow as a symbol of this pact.
Conclusion: dinosaurs were killed in the Flood, and the layer of
iridium was laid down through special creation by God as evidence for
scientists in a later age that the Flood really happened.
But this contradicts the creationist "fact" that Noah brought
dinosaurs on the Ark, and they survived the flood. Triceratops became
the ancestor of the unicorn:
Well sure, *some* dinosaurs survived (probably a pair of each kind, since
it's doubtful the various dinosaur baramins were considered "clean") but
the "dragons" and "giants" of the pre-flood days were enormously depleted
and unable to maintain their populations after the flood. Thus the ecology
of the Earth changed from the primordeal "Chaos" ecology that existed on
the portion of the Earth outside Eden to an ecology mostly based on those
plants and animals created by God specifically to be of use to humans.
This of course was God's plan - thus the requirement that Noah save 7 each
of the clean animals, rather than 2 each as was required for the unclean.

This is just silly. The Unicorn was clearly not only unclean but immoral,
what with its obsession with virgins, and was one of the various things God
intended to kill with the flood. Dinosaurs are just animals, not
supernatural virgin-hunting lechers.
