?? well, having read gould...which you apparently have not...he never
said that. gould's 'intent' was to demonstrate that evolution COULD
occur at various speeds in various species. there is no 'miracle'
involved other than....natural selection...which they picked up from a
guy named 'darwin'.
Darwin conjecture of Natural Selection acting very slowly has been
falsified by the fossil record: The fossil record simply don't show
any slow or gradual transformation of any species into another
species.
unfortunately that's exactly what the record shows. check the case of
diatoms in the carribbean, for example.
