nowhere to go but down. This is another natural principle of natural
philosophy, as pronounced by Brigham Young -- If you peak, you will decline
inevitably.
That's mediaeval thinking; you could plateau, so there is no necessity
or imperative to descend, and it seems it is as trivially easy as that
to show Brigham Young and Art Bulla wrong.
